Union between Autozone Park and The Meical Center

I was driving downtown to a Grizzlies game tonight and I noticed that Union Avenue between Autozone Park and the Medical Center is really delapidated! There are many buildings that are borded up and/or have gang graffiti written all over them. It seems that this stretch of real estate is essentiall in linking the Medical Center to the rest of Downtown. I don't know if there is anything palanned for this area, but this should definately be an area of focus. Anyone have any thoughts and ideas on what should or is being panned for the area?
