What does the Police cheif have to do with 50 cent? 50 cent is all talk anyways, you can't believe everything you hear. Should we not allow criminals in Grand Rapids? Even if their fame can help bring in more money for charities?

How many shootings/stabbings/gang wars occured this weekend as a result of these events?

There was a HUGE line of people outside the arena on Saturday afternoon (celebrity basketball game?). Not excusing the "garbage rap" that some of these guys espouse, but overrall I think it was a good event. Maybe that's why 50 cent was a last-minute entry, to not allow any time for the new Mayweather Board to protest? We'll see how the Summer event goes.

Funny how someone's offhanded comments can totally taint your personal perception of an event.

Saturday night we were downtown at Big O's for a dinner (and a beer!). We'd been ice-skating prior to that, so we were parked in that small surface lot on Monroe just south of the GRAM.

When we went to go home the parking attendant said "hey, don't go toward Fulton St, they just had a riot at Van Andel and there are cops everywhere."

I've seen nothing of that nature in the newspaper or on TV... but our out-of-town visitors went home without the benefit of trying to find the story on the news thinking that there are riots in downtown GR whenever 50 Cent comes to town.

Go figure.... it shows we have a long way to go in changing perceptions when people who work downtown on Monroe, in the shadow of our awesome new art museum are making comments about fictitious riots.
