I think it is more the use of breakout rooms, additional smaller rooms and outside entertaining space which our convention center is lacking despite our moderate weather makes it attractive.

I think that is correct is the contractors office for the Ellis.

this looks like it is getting ready to open at the Embassy Suites uptown.  This is the space where the restaurant just lasted a few months.

^^ great photo of the Duke arcade there don't think I have seen it photographed at night.  the treed plaza in front of the Mint is really a nice plaza and provides shade on a sunny day.

It was apparently a serious fire in Roosters. The amount of sirens in Uptown over the past hour was insane.

Somebody just got shot in the chaos. Medic transporting, life threatening injuries. Person was walking out of the Omni Hotel and got hit by gunfire.

This type of incident only causes a negative perception.  Wasn't there a shooting several months in the adjacent Loft Hotel lobby?

Totally innocent bystander. What I want to know is who's going to settle a beef at the Epicenter at like 3pm? Seems like they might have been taking advantage of the situation a block over.

I wonder why 2019 has been so crazy violent. Charlotte is on track to have a really high murder and violent crime rate.

It’s the heat, it’s driving people mad. 

But honestly, Charlotte used to be quite safe, not sure what the heck is up with people shooting in broad daylight (with first responders near the same block!)

 Even though nobody asked for it, I did a little recon uptown, the whole lobby of one Bank of America Center smells like burnt plastic, metal, wiring, etc.  

There is clearly visible burn and smoke damage around the entrance to the parking deck.   The lobby and function floor of the Ritz Carlton appear to have no air-conditioning, they have a bunch of mobile units throughout but it’s still very uncomfortable.  

I also sense some possible damage to the electrical supply, maybe they are running on generators? The lights are kind of flickering a little bit. Especially the LED bulbs which are particularly sensitive to minor changes in current. 

 Looks like they are going full steam ahead on the investigation and subsequent repairs though. Don’t think this will last very long. Appears that damage is mainly confined to the roosters space, exactly as it should be in a modern building.

I think this is why they want it to be more retail oriented as opposed to night clubs and bars however of course this was in the middle of the day and it was an innocent bystander across the street by the Omni who was hit.  Very sad.

The tough thing is as the Epicenter gets a worse and worse reputation, what major reputable retailer would pick it over alternative locations in Charlotte? There are too many other empty retail locations in Charlotte with more local residents, easier access to high income residents, no homeless people asking for money, and no brawls going on in courtyards.
