That was still moving forward within the last three weeks?  Wow!  I can barely remember that plan from what has to be at least three years ago.  I assumed a long time ago that CJ’s project was dead.

2.5 years at last update, but has been under development since 2015.

Per Polaris its still owned by Charles, who has some sort of fascination with Randy Watson of sexual chocolate fame.

Miscellaneous uptown photos showing some of our older 1920s buildings.   1. Dunhill Hotel from 1929 I think 2. I would call this a bar district that continues around the corner to the B Tower.  3. 230 South Tryon was once an office building now condos.  4. 5. Johnston Building 1920s  6. new Chipotle in the 1920s Latta Arcade  7.8. 1920s Tryon Plaza building.

Uptown Charlotte has historical buildings they are just swallowed up by our newer taller skyscrapers.

first photo new Chase Bank branch at 112 S Tryon underway.  The Vue the tallest residential tower in the southeast outside of the South Florida.   Bank of America Corporate Center is the only crown the QC has no  matter what Crescent says about Ally Bank Center.

the new Starbucks in Johnston Bldg 212 S Tryon is open and the Chopt seems to be in the hiring mode. 

Plus check out the Barings 300 South Tryon Christmas village and train display.  Really nice and they might be the winner of KJ 2nd annual award for best uptown Christmas décor.  Last year Hearst Tower won it. Multiple trains in this display freight and passenger and even a streetcar.

Wanted to ask you guys as i drove by the Mint parking deck by Panthers stadium, the corner is all blocked by construction fencing and saw a truck crane there.  Anyone know what this could be?

They are replacing the staircase that wraps around the front of the parking deck.

Womp womp...was hoping for some retrofit retail slots going in or something lol.  I recall Tep saying there would be some renovations to that deck a long time ago in a presser but who knows what that means.  Thanks for the info tho.

KJ is the Hearst lobby open to the public?  I'd love to take a Christmas model train tour of Uptown CLT.

that train display was at the Barings tower 300 south tryon and yes Hearst Tower you can walk through they have a HUGE Christmas tree on the back side by College St

Piece of the Wander wall hanging and I would not mind this in my house LOL.  6. 2. 3.  This retail spot has been vacant for 10 years or so why wouldn't the landlord which I think is Bank of America lease this to a fast food spot like McDonalds?  It would bring MickeyD's back uptown and be an anchor to drive some foot traffic that way.  Also with all the events at Spectrum families would love it too for a quick meal before a concert, circus, game.

The bike path is, eventually, going to extend further east. The new Bus/Bike lanes will create a nice wide path to connect cyclists from 277 to CTC, and the green lane coming up the hill on 4th is still a challenge, but IMO the green paint helps quite a bit. Then they will remove the dead space that is used as parking on 4th (next to Chima) and build a more elaborate version of the type of bike lane seen in your photo that will still allow for express bus loading.

Miscellaneous photos of uptown and things I noticed. 

1. 5/3 Bank Building on N Tryon a Cousins owned building.  2. 101 Independence is redoing their retail spaces.  3.  Starbucks in BofA Plaza closed for renovations 4. New bike lane along or is that something else?

5-9     BB%T Center old McDonalds space still vacant.  New amenity deck looks really nice first time I have seen this coming back from Charlotte Plaza.  

10. 12.  new retailer art studio in the Tryon Plaza   11. new Korean BBQ bar place coming to First Citizens Bank bldg.

ah no they just sold advertising on the wall there.  then the overstreet mall tube between there and 2 Wells Fargo always is the hottest and has the heat pumping too much.

this is my miscellaneous uptown Charlotte project.  Judging the Christmas decorations in the Class A office tower lobbies.  (all were surveyed within the loop but Gateway Plaza but I heard they have a large exterior tree) 

But first Happy Hanukkah to my Jewish friends!

And we have a new winner this year.  

1. Lobby of 615 Regions Building and voted my most improved décor.  (last year was just some wreaths)    2. 5/3 Bank building simple by elegant Cousins does a great job overall.

3- 8   Last years winner Hearst Tower aka Truist Tower tallest indoor tree uptown in their College St lobby.  I hope new owner Truist keeps the tradition up and I will check in 2020 too. 

9- 14   Bank of America Corporate Center and 1 Bank of America Center.   the Leonard Bearstein orchestra to me looks a little old but the kiddies seem to enjoy them. 

15-17 One Independence Center aka 101 Independence a few trees and a Grinch inflatable. 

18. Cousins Bank of America Plaza couple trees wonder if US Bank will move here and do better??

19.  BB&T Center in the overstreet mall nice tree

20.  tall tree in Charlotte Plaza but did not go to ground floor due to the escalator out of service.  

21-25  Two Wells Fargo and the Wells Fargo Atrium nice tall tree and similar theme over at Three Wells Fargo too. 

(all the rest of the photos)  and drumroll please...…. the 2019 KJ Uptown Class A office lobby decorations winner is   Spectrum Properties 300 South Tryon and Barings Bank.   Their model village with more trains that Kermit could ever dreamed of and their model of their tower worked into the snow village is the clear winner!    Several times I have seen groups of kiddies visiting this and plenty of people stopping and taking photos besides me. 

Not pictured One Wells Fargo, DEC, Carillon 

Hotels were excluded but the clear winner in that category is the Ritz Carlton with its huge gingerbread display.

(I will be posted some outside of the 277 loop later)  Congrats again to Spectrum Properties.

well this is interesting JLL is marketing a new office building at 300 East Stonewall and could that be the Even Hotel site?  a boutique 221K building and it would have great visibility for sure!

It seems almost certain that it will be the vacant Even Hotel Site.  A proposed 221 SF Office building would actually be pretty tall too because the footprint of the site is so small.  I would suspect it to be 15/16 stories with 14k or 15k floorplates.   Hopefully this would start prior to August so the existing Concrete skeleton that’s there now would be demolished prior to the RNC.  It’s currently an eyesore.   

Also - I think that corner being an Office High-Rise Building would make Stonewall Station a more well rounded Project as a whole in my opinion than having two (2) hotels.  Charlotte needs to continue with Job Growth and Office Construction.   Hotel and residential will follow as long as those two aspects holds steady.
