It’s on now.   It’s been on a handful of times in the past couple weeks. 

And I posted this somewhere on 27Dec and it looked like they were testing some new kind of lighting but I haven’t seen this again since.

The lights on that building tend to be off when the birds are migrating,

The lights at 400 South Tryon have been off  since last fall - all through the winter they did not come on.

Maybe more than just about bird migration.  Just like the Catalyst where the lights on the top of the

building have been off for years now.   Or when then the time changes and the building management takes

days to change the timers.  Could be poor management or maybe not a priority or budget issues - who knows.

I guess lightning can be hell on building lighting as well.

Thoughts on this? Possible signage coming to BofA plaza.

if someone leases 150K or more of that space they should demand their name being on the building.  the age of when our big banks did not want their names on their buildings is over and I do think this building is better suited for signage than another bank building up N Tryon was/is.  

I was hoping it would be the US Bank Plaza but according to my sources that is not to be.

If there is signage, just don't slap it up there with brackets hanging over the edge like the WeWork sign.

don't know yet but do know this their landlord for this biggest space in Charlotte is Truist Bank in that tower plus some other space in 201 S Tryon.  I am sure Truist will push them out ie not renew their lease as they will want the space in the TT.   So they will go somewhere where I am not sure I thought the old BofA Plaza would have been perfect but maybe they want new space with LEED and WELL certifications and balconies and so forth.

From Twitter   Ground has officially broken for the Varick on 7th affordable housing development in Uptown. The name is a nod to James Varick, the founder and first bishop of the AME Zion Church. The city contributed $1.5 million Housing Trust Fund dollars to the project

The new development is located at Seventh and Alexander streets adjacent to the Little Rock Cultural Center near Little Rock AME Zion Church. Construction starts in May and will wrap up in Fall 2022

drive through Uptown Charlotte last night and there seems to be a lot more people on the streets and almost all the parking spots along S Tryon were taken (in the height of the pandemic there was plenty of parking)  Signage up for the new restaurants at Ally Bank,  Parker Poe's name on the BOAT, Duke Metro tower rising,  new storefronts and facades at 101 Independence Center at the square, outside dining at Dunhill.

Miscellaneous uptown shots today.   There must have been a Vax clinic at the Stadium today as traffic was bumper to bumper at S Tryon and Stonewall too. 

Bearden Park has filled out great with plants and trees and so forth.

Does the small cube have a tenant yet?

 

You know what I think would be cool in there? A retail space for Panthers/Hornets/Knights/UNC Charlotte/Charlotte Football Club apparel and gear. That way people walking around and visiting uptown wouldn't have to go to a shop in the individual venue to purchase shirts, hats, flags, etc. Just a thought.

Golden Cow Ice Cream is moving into the small box retail space! They have amazing home made ice cream and will hopefully thrive in uptown!

ITs a big empty lot, great location for an Apartment complex. It will clear the homeless out of the area too.

The shelter is literally next door to this address, the homeless people aren't going anywhere. It's also not super-walkable to...anything. Closest destination is probably Optimist Hall and it's 15 minutes.

2 blocks from the upcoming Publix on N Tryon and 1 block from the existing Alpha Mill apartments.  I would expect  a wood frame apartment complex and it might be slightly more affordable then anything inside the 277 loop.  But with a rooftop patio area the apartments could have great views of uptown.  Yes the shelter is nearby but I remember when people looked down on currently named Southend area.  Who would ever want to live there etc?  Plus isn't the Silver Line proposed right by here.

Walking around Uptown tonight and snapped a few pictures of the progress at One Independence Center. The first floor exterior glass wall has now been removed.
