PROPOSED: Narragansett Brewery

Recommended Posts

the bock and porter are 2 very different beers. the porter is a porter... thicker and darker, more roasted in flavor. the bock is lighter and easy drinking with a slight roasted flavor. it's darker than the regular lager, but not thick or heavy like the porter. the bock is available in bottles, porter only on tap at select locations.

Do you really find porters to be heavy? I find porters to almost always be light to medium bodied. I think there is a misconception from back in the bad old days when the big brewers made everyone equate dark beer with heavy beer so that they could sell their light lagers. If you want thick, go with a stout or imperial porter/stout. Mmm, chewy!

If anyone is hesitant to try a porter because they fear it is thick, please give it a shot, I think you'll be surprised!

Union Station has a Vanilla Bean Porter right now that is out of this world. I had two last night that were fantastic. Although I understand it's almost gone, so I may need to go back tonight and help 'em finish it off.
