UNCW plans hotel and conference center.

UNCW is planning a conference center with a large hotel across College Rd from the University. University officials and city leaders say it will not be competition for the new downtown convention center now being built downtown. The conference center will have about 25,000 square feet of meeting space, much smaller than the convention center, and a 200 room hotel. The university plans to build the conference center and hotel, on an old movie theater site it bought , directly across the street from the university.
