Belmont University Performing Arts Center (3 stories, 1,700 seats) update.  Blasting/excavation getting deeper along eastern hillside.  Thousands of tons of rock being hauled away.

MTSU is developing a new bachelor of science degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management starting this fall.  The major is designed to prepare students for careers in food and beverage services, hotels, entertainment, concerts and festivals, travel transportation and more, university officials said. It will be the only college degree track of its kind in Middle Tennessee.

Lipscomb plays in the NIT championship game tonight (vs Texas).     Great to see the LU hoops team having this success and the chance to play in the national spotlight.     Go Bisons!

And you may get to see Belmont's or Vandy's future coach in action!  Coach Alexander was a star at Belmont and coached under Rick Byrd for 16 seasons.  I'm guessing that the Bruins may want to talk to him given his success at Lipscomb.

Agreed. It's unremarkable. And keeping costs low is obviously not the aim. They're spending a lot of money per s.f. on bland architecture. I think they're trying to spruce up the inside of the campus with a new plan, but lots of legacy buildings are either oddly placed or simply plain 1950/60s hulks of buildings.

Agreed.  It is depressingly prosaic.    However, Belmont makes up a great deal for Lipscomb's deficiencies.   I am somewhat prejudiced as I work for the design firm which has produced many recent Belmont projects.

You guys have been rinsing it for Belmont, I absolutely love what's going on there!

Belmont University Performing Arts Theater update.

First crane fully erected, second should be finished today.  Also, cement being poured for framing on stairwell/elevator shaft on SE corner, as well as curbs for support driveway on the eastern edge (at top of the hill) being placed.

I actually think the Vandy administration takes pride in knowing they have a reputation of being a top notch academic school with athletics being the absolute last thought on their mind.

That's actually the mindset of many influential alumni too... at whose pleasure the admin serves. They get their $43M right off the top each year for being in the SEC. When you put it that way, you can see how very profitable athletics are for Vandy.

So don’t take it for granted
