Not an announcement of anything new at TSU, but just something to watch for once the State of TN and TSU settles the dispute on how much the State owes TSU.  It's estimated that the State owes over $540M to TSU.  Once the settlement is agreed upon, we can expect to hear plans for new academic and residential buildings on the main campus.  More than likely, some of the older dorms will be demolished and replaced with new ones.  TSU is wanting to build a new building for the college of engineering and they also want to build a new library.  Funds will also be used to upgrade infrastructure issues on campus as well.  I doubt that any of the money will be used for athletic facilities.  If any money is allocated to athletics it will be to repair and upgrade existing facilities.  Probably not towards building a new on-campus football stadium.

I believe a target date to settle the amount owed is in January of 2022.  There are some in the State Legislature trying to short change TSU and some who want to see the full amount paid out over a period of time.  So, it will be a battle.  I wouldn't be surprised if a third party files a lawsuit seeking more, given that some people believe TSU was underfunded far more than the matching land grant monies the State withheld.

TSU Avon Campus: Found this rendering on the Nashville Civic Design Center of a proposal someone had put together for expanding the Avon Campus just north of Amazon Towers One and Two in Nashville Yards.  It shows a 24 story and 9 story towers, plus substantial green space (garage with park space on top, and perhaps an underground element).  Would certainly be exciting if something like this could eventually come to pass:

A bit more info on Travecca University's new 7 story residential hall currently under construction:

- The address is 501 Lester Ave.

- It will accommodate 300 students.

- There will be a rooftop terrace with a view of the Nashville skyline.

- Amenities include a cafe, marketplace, fitness studio, gaming/multipurpose rooms, and outdoor courtyard.

-  ESa is the architect.

- R.C. Matthews is the contractor.

- Completion should be in mid-2023.

I had completely missed that Belmont was even opening a medical school! Huge addition for the university and a win for the city. I saw that they were going to be partnering with HCA to provide hospital teaching, but I wonder if there are any plans for them to build their own medical center any time in the near future so they don't have to rely on a third party (especially HCA and the political baggage that may come along with it).

With the Frist family connection to the university and to HCA, I’d think Belmont  wouldn’t  need to worry about building a medical center of their own.
