This is from the Tennessean today.

This does not surprise me too much, but it is a disappointment. I hate to see that the riverfront development may have to be put on hold. I just wonder how may projects will have to be put on hold. I know the amount is 278 million. I am curious as to which projects as well.

On a related note. Metro is looking to add up to $5 a month to water bills in order to upgrade and enhance the storm sewers in Nashville. The city is under federal mandated to do something.

Ah huh, I figured this would come down the pipe at some point. I too am not surprised by this move. I suppose I am more disappointed, like you Ron, that some of the more asthetic projects are going to be put on hold "possibly". But I can rest assure that they will be completed at some point.

The one that really hurts is the waterfront development project. This is something that can potentially add lots to Nashville's quality of life, in my opinion. I think the city should make that project a high priority. Hopefully, the hold on this project will be short lived.

I'm disappointed too, but not in such a way that I'd hope the city would take out its platinum card and get what it wants just because they want it. This actually makes me proud in that the city is being prudent with its financial house. I want granite and hardwood in my kitchen and a new television...and a new truck. I have plenty of credit and could have those things by week's end if I chose to, but prudence and responsibility see me deferring such wants until the time is more suitable. In this regard a city and an individual are not that much different. A few deferrals until the time is right will make the reality of those planned expenditures much more doable down the road. In the meantime, I'll edge my flowerbeds.
