North Carolina Community Sailing Center

I looks as if the North Mecklenburg Park Advisory Council has recommended approval of a sailing and rowing center for the public to be located at Blythe Landing on the Southern end of Lake Norman. Blythe is one of the very few places where the public has access to Lake Norman since Duke over the years chose instead to sell off much of the shoreline to private individuals. The center will teach rowing and sailing and will be non-profit.

It's not without some controversy as many of the land owners near there are protesting the decision. They claim there is already too much boat traffic on Lake Norman and the lake doesn't need something like this to add to it. I note these people were not protesting at last week's boat show which will probably put far more boats on the lake than this center would.

I believe this will have to be approved by the county since they own the park.
