Substantial backing or not, the market will dictate their success. As us Charlotteans know, Public Private Partnerships take a long ass time. Our own PPP opportunities include 4 towers (possibly a 5th on the land along Smith St) for Gateway Station, 2-3 towers for Charlotte Transportation Center, 2 towers for 7th and Tryon, and 2-3 towers for Brooklyn Village. They almost never feel realistic. I suspect the next Public Private Partnership will be Tepper and up to 4-5 towers.

So I was reading a article on the Ledger... Steel is so hard to come by, as well as Construction skilled labor, that major projects which are ready to go are being heavily delayed. Could explain a few that were supposed to break ground, or which there has been a bit of progress, and then stopped cold turkey.

Highrise Alert:

Yet another high rise residential is proposed and again source is NC Brownfields website.  (hey it is public information and the KJ finds it)  this is immediately behind the RailYard on  Winnifred between Summit and W Bland basically facing the Centro Railyard apartments and micro retail. 

""Delray Ventures, LLC intends to develop a Type I, 15-story mixed-use development that consists of approximately 300 apartments, 15,000 square feet (SF) of retail, 25,000 SF of office and approximately 375 parking spaces using 5 podium parking levels. ""

Delray Ventures | Multifamily and Mixed-Use Communities (delray-ventures.com)   they have done some apartments around town and some out of town  but this is obviously a little bit bigger.

Southend skyline the 4th best in my book in the Carolinas.  (after uptown, Raleigh and Winston)   SouthendRising.  (and will rise to new heights very soon) 

Vantage Southend maybe some day surrounded by 40+ story towers or 30+ story towers but this project is still a great one.

On the subject of Vantage.. Good Wurst is opening a second location.  Have to think this meant Tryon and Catherine since there is no Tryon & Winnifred intersection.  Regardless,  I celebrated the news with their Rueben for lunch yesterday

I love North Hills and its burgeoning skyline but  Southend is more spread apart and more organic.  Just like downtown Raleigh or downtown Winston.  the Southend skyline is about to get a lot more highrises both residential and office.

South End also has great bones for a southeastern submarket with the Arlington, Ashton, and Uptown Cabaret.

Honestly if this is the case that Southend could receive 4 or 5 High Rises 15+ Story or Higher in the next 2 or 3 years (I think that many highrises are currently proposed), then it's Skyline truly would\could rival that of every Carolina (North & South) City except for Raleigh.  That's just crazy to think about....

Yes the Portman apartment tower, the Tyber Creek Pub tower, the tower behind the Railyard, the 3 towers at Riverside,  2 more on the enterprise lot, cousins on w Tremont tower, stiles tower and that is off the top of my head

I think the only one you missed is the Greystar Tower starting in a few months @ Walgreens on East\West Blvd.

If we can manage to organically develop more nightlife and retail in South End then quite frankly I feel like it can become a cosmopolitan destination such as Nashville, minus the country music which they can keep.

that would an affirmative Uptown has most of the rest but there are a couple sprinkled here in there in the suburbs outside of Southend and Uptown.

Imagine if we got an MLB stadium in southend, and mixed use development around it (like the battery in Atlanta) My god, southend would turn into a city of its own.

No that it will happen, but there are only three land areas big enough to accommodate a South End MLB stadium. Brookhill, Pipe and Foundry's South End portion and Southside Homes. If we go further South there are a few more.
