Not sure where to post this, but the vacant convenience store on Tryon St next to Inner Peaks has been knocked down.  Think it was still up when I was there Wednesday but gone when I rolled up on Friday.

this is on the east side of South blvd, just north of its intersection with Clanton.  It was a pretty rundown looking dry cleaners bldg.  This demolition is an example of when a surface lot is actually an improvement over a structure.

FYI - That Commercial Site across from the Lidl was lit up nicely last night.  Can’t remember what it is called but it’s right next to the Lightrail Railyard.

Walked by the other day. This site looks great. Can’t wait to get some tenants and foot traffic.

It is nice to see these dead spots start to fill in and connect the various pockets of heavy development.  It's actually happening quicker than I expected.

Multiple mid rise apartments and one office building on South Blvd.  Never seen these on Foster Ave.  (2nd and 3rd photos) They seemingly popped up there.  Dont know the developer or unit count either.   And the The Jane condos at New Bern Ave.  https://www.thejanesouthend.com/   (I think they are sold out)

Morningstar (Storage) is actually developing 113 unit apartment project that will also have a percentage of the units available as short-term rental (Airbnb). Similar concept to Placemak'r and others like that.

I thought the builder told me there is also some below market rate apartments as well. There is a small retail space as well.

3 new Southend apartment complexes along Dunavant and the new one on South Blvd on the off broadway shoe site from the Rail Trail.   These new 7 story apartment buildings much taller than the first generation of 3-5 story ones.    Lot of apartment inventory coming online soon.  Noticed some of the older established apartment buildings advertising more "Leasing specials" etc.

So there is a rumor that Byron’s is moving and they will make that a Patagonia.  Also another rumor, the space next to Superica (on the backside of Hawkins) will be a Nike store.  The Patagonia rumor could be true but so sure about Nike.  If these happen that will def spark a huge surge in bringing more retail to south end!

Byrons moving isn't a rumor, it is a done deal. No comment on the rest.

Mid rise apartments at Dunavant and Hawkins and those along South Blvd and Rail Trail (the Designer shoe warehouse site)  and a couple of the mid rise Railyard which still looks great!  No matter how tall it is.

Why in the hell is the Auto Bell on South Blvrd closed for RENOVATIONS?! This should be closed for REDEVELOPMENT!

This is will be the only opportunity in the next 5 or so years for them to connect that side of the rail trail. Watch them screw up the only justification on this.

They are doing some pretty major modifications to the building.  I am surprised they weren't required to do the rail trail.  They're basically taking off the front of the building (roof will remain though) and expanding the rear.  Twelve vacuum pumps will front South Blvd.

from the other day this is what I like about Southend. Variety of heights and building types from townhomes like these on W Bland to mid rise apartments to now high rises.  I hope we keep a mixture like this for the long term. 

Last 2 photos are of the new Uptown Yolk restaurant site at the ground level of the Vantage Southend garage.

It looks as if construction at the Lidl site has halted as of 2-3 weeks ago.  Does anyone have any info?
