I don't know if this has been posted. This website is about the history of the areas around Columbia's three rivers, but mainly the Saluda and Congaree. Use your cursor to move left and right and reveal articles on history. I really like this site, and they have some really cool photos.

Wow...what an amazing site. I spent 30 minutes on the site, and learned LOTS of history about my own town that I never even knew. I didin't know that the area where Columbia is located used to be called the "backcountry". And I never knew that Saxe Gotha was an actual town that was created to keep invaders from attacking Charleston. And I didn't know you could still see a sunken riverboat on the West Columbia side of the river. I never knew that George Washington thought Columbia should have been placed below the falls.

I somehow feel smarter and more informed today. :)
