Hooray! Here's everyone's chance to actually do something about getting better designed, green, affordable housing on some of the vacant lots around Providence:

City Holds Design Contest

In case that link doesn't work, Providence has announced a competition for model designs for both market-rate and affordable one, two, and three family housing. The registration deadline is March 14th on the Providence Planning website and the designs are due May 1. There's (4) $2500 prizes available.

They indicate that entrants do not need to be an architect, although some training or experience with design or construction seems like it would certainly come in handy.
