Regardless of all of the strange dealings around this property with the owner and the city, I figure this is still a viable project. The guy owns the property next door and may well do something with that after he does this.

There is a nice small office building on the other side of his 2nd property (1000 Wethersfield)

The brick building in question has potential, but looking at the area I wonder what market rates will be. It backs up against train tracks, and there is a tank farm on the other side of those tracks, junk cars, and what looks like a bus repair depot.

Whats the deal with this?

"The city acquired the two-story, 27,000-square-foot brick building in 1999 for $350,000, then sold it to Reategui, a supporter of and donor to Mayor Eddie A. Perez, for $150,000 in 2004."

Eddie is still greasing his pals at the cost of taxpayers. People should be outraged by this nonsense.

I disagree, this is as shady as it gets. How do you sell a property to a buddy of the Mayor's for well under half of what you paid?

this project is still working its way through the process.

It was on the 7/22 docket for design review board, but that meeting was canceled for lack of quorum. Hopefully this moves forward and the ugliness of the insider deals can be put behind us for the sake of progress.
