Yankee Springs Time Trial

Tomorrow, 622 pre-registered mtn bikers, and many day of registrants will descend on the Deep Lake unit of Yankee Springs State Park for the Yankee Springs Time Trial Devil's Soup Bowl Race. It is one of the largest mtn bike events in the state of Michigan and the weather promises to be great for riding and for watching. I'm expecting nothing less than a wild zoo of people everywhere!

Elite racers start at 10am and a new cyclist is released every 15 seconds. The nature of a time trial is to get the best possible time you can, so racers are racing against the clock rather than directly against other racers. The fastest times on the ~11 mile course are usually around 42 minutes from what I've heard.

I'm riding in the beginner group and my start time is 12:09:30. I'll be sure and post photos of the madness.
