This forum is to discuss any new info that can be found about developments coming to the south Commons area of town. Not really much has been going on down there since the mid 90's when the city got the new dome civic center and the massive softball complex which hosted the first ever Olympic softball competition in '96. However there is alot of talk about improving some structures down there and building a few new ones. So anything anyone hears post it in this forum

Yeah i had seen the skate park constuction going on. I had heard something in the news last week about the indoor skating rink. They said it's because youth hockey interfers with Cottonmouths proffesional hockey on some dates and the extra skating rink is being built for mainly youth ice skating and public recration. Also there is alot of talk about renovating the Golden Park Stadium

whos agrees with me I think the columbus civic center in columbus georgia was built to small in my opionion they built the civic center to small because everytime I go in there it just looks small in the civic center I think it could of have been bigger I think that they should of have built it bigger. and also on the columbus civic center website it says that the civic center has 10,000 arena seats well there should of have been 15,000 arena seats in the civic center instead of just 10,000 seats and another thing it says that the flat floor space is 23,000 squarefeet on the civic center floor well it should of have been 38,000 squarefeet of flat floor space on the civic center floor instead of just 23,000 squarefeet of flat floor space.
