Who says the Midwest is dead! Take a stroll along the Chicago River and South down State Street to get your fix of skyscapers and tower cranes rising.

Trump International, almost topped out. The hotel on the lower floors is now open during construction:

Scratch that. Trump Tower has a long way to go before it's topped out

Or ride your bike on down:

Or catch a water taxi:

Beautiful blend of old and new:

La Familia (The Family :) ):

All kidding aside, these Chicago River Architectural Tours are the bomb.

Didn't catch the name of this office building rising (not residential, I'm pretty sure). Near Merchandise Mart and the Chicago School? Anyone?

edit: answer is 300 North Lasalle. Rendering

I heart Marina Towers:

Waterview Towers, featuring the Shangri-La Hotel and residences, at State and Wacker:

(They even have mid-rise construction trailers in Chicago)

Chicago's version of Times Square:

MoMo (Modern Momentum) with a big friggin hole in the middle (to squeak around the height and air space regulations in the Loop):

(too bad the developer went cheap and the curtain wall has started to come off)

108 North State mixed-use. 600 footer (?) to be added above.

Great photos of the town the stole my heart! It is amazing how much construction is going on in downtown Chicago. It has been non-stop since I lived there (and long before I arrived). It is truly one of the great cities of the world and shows itself off well.

The Loop (so named by the fact that the El Train "loops" around the core of downtown)

The area near Dearborn and Monroe probably has THE largest collection of International Style buildings in existence.
