Business-friendly bills become laws

Recommended Posts

Several designed to help local businesses were signed into law by Gov. Linda Lingle on Tuesday.

The state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs will reduce its registration fees and other charges to businesses, including the cost of a certificate of good standing from $25 to $5, effective July 1.

The measures were part of Lingle's administrative package submitted to the Legislature this session.

The laws were a follow-up to a December 2003 report from the DCCA on its surplus revenue and its plans to lower fee schedules without sacrificing service to businesses.

Additionally, the law extends DCCA's authority to adjust fees to keep revenue and expenses aligned without posting excessive profit.

:P Yay!
