Texarkana Region Touts Tourism

Developing a genuine identity, true to the spirit of the region is a task the Texarkana Regional Arts and Humanities Council has taken on with passion. The Texarkana arts community touts it's crown jewels, Perot Theater, Regional Arts Center and Downtown Post Office as tourism calling cards. Currently TRAHC presents 20 to 25 programs per year at the Perot Theater and buses in about 20,000 students for other events at the theater. TRAHC presents exhibits in the galleries and performances and parties in the ornately detailed Cabe Hall. The Jump, Jive and Jam is a yearly celebration of Texarkana's identity sparks interest in the area and pulls people into the city. The festival is based on tremendous musicians that are Texarkana natives like Scott Joplin and Conlon Nancarrow. It attracts up to 10,000 people a year. Other notable events in the area are the Jonquil festival north of Hope, Arkansas and the Hope Watermelon Festival which is a huge draw to the area.
