There are just tons of stats on that site.

I love statistics because they are incredibly powerfull way to make your point. and they are also incredibly easily manipulated. ;)

a perfect example would be the mayor saying crime is down.

here is another. Murder is actually trending down right now. the murder rate improved 15.28% in just one week.

the reality is that there were no murders last week but in 2007 there was creating a statistical improvement of 15.28% over last year.

What this really shows is how sensitive these numbers are to a "good" or "bad" week.

7-Jun 14-Jun

compared to 2007 change

Murder: 138% 122% -15%

Rape: 128% 129% 1%

Robbery: 80% 83% 2%

Agg Assault: 109% 111% 2%

Burglary: 84% 85% 1%

Larceny: 82% 84% 2%

Auto Theft: 84% 83% -1%

ok so this is a bad one.

Corner of Church and Ann. this is the parking lot that Northland owns or that little one next to the church street garage. and 1:30 a.m. Saturday is a fairly common time to be in the area.

not helping the way Hartford is viewed. and honestly I am sure hundreds of suburbanites heard the gun shots this time.

At least our murder rate fell back in line with a little less than last year. I hope it continues to fall. some of the other numbers are still MUCH higher than last year.

Rape. is 37% higher!

yikes

I really hope the recent publicity and such have a strong effect on these numbers, and I hope our violent crome numbers start to fall off below last years and continue to drop. Hartford can not afford to have a bad crime rate to go with its bad reb, and sparce street scape. If the city was physicly in great condition people some times overlook crime, but hartford needs work in quite a few places these days.

bring on those 80 new cops!

I have been and will be keeping a running comparison of this year vs last year on a weekly change basis.

These are the weekly numbers represented in % VS prior year.

Notice how Rape, Agg Assault, Shootings and Shooting victims are all upconciderably while the others are all down conciderably.

Also you can see that Rape is finally leveled off and is trending down while unfortunately Agg Assault, Auto theft and both shooting catagories are trending up.
