Great Southern Golf Course- Development

The board of directors of the Great Southern Golf Club have voted to sell the courser for a reported $27m to Arkansas developers who intend to develop hotels, condominums and more on the adjacent former campus of William Carey College. The intervening property in the Southern Circle neighborhood will likely become part of this development. According to the developers, their intention is to retain the historic golf course as the centerpiece of the new development. The Great Southern course was laid out at the time of the founding of the city. The hotel of the same name disappeared in the 1950's. This could be a major piece of the redevelopment puzzle in the city.
