I thought this needed a little more "front and center" localtalent.

Exerpt from the article:

GRAND RAPIDS - Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids Inc. and local developer Bob Grooters are teaming up to create a major recycling operation.

Goodwill plans to phase out its traditional mode of contracting with employers for assembly and sorting services to create jobs for people with barriers to employment, Vice President of Community Relations Jill Wallace said. Instead, Goodwill workers will sort and bail recyclables for Grooters Green Group.

The long-term vision is to create an industrial park, anchored by a Grooters Green Group facility and surrounded by small companies that would employ Goodwill clients to make new products from the recycled materials.

Temporarily, the operation will be housed at a Grooters building near 76th Street SE and U.S. 131. Grooters said the leading contender for a location for the industrial park is about 60 acres he owns south of Gerald R. Ford International Airport, but a decision has not yet been made.

Grooters should look at doing this in the GrandWalk area.

I wonder if this is where Grooters plans to take all the refuse from the River House project to sort through - there are so many dumpsters full of metal, wood, tin, plastic, etc. that get filled up and pulled out nearly daily. Hopefully its not finding a "quick-fix" landfill fate!
