The Gilmore Group

Its too early for me to spill the beans but expect two new restaurants from the Gilmore Group (BOB people) in the Grand Rapids area (in and around DT). One thing I'll say is that one of them is on the west side of the river...

When you say on the west side of the river I think of West Bank. Do you mean the West Side neighborhood in general?

Isn't Bridgewater on the west side of the river? What was the name of the restaurant that used to be in there?

Yeah, It's a pretty lame thread. Why don't we let it ride until someone can come out and say something about some place or places. :)

Joe

This thread has turned into a game of "Questions Only".

Yep, Nick Finks has been on that corner for ever. Down the road from Vitales, opposite side of the street. I hope they keep some of it original...

When???? What will the theme be? This will be a great addition to a Bridge corridor that is otherwise struggling...

The Bridge Street corridor does need to be vamped up, and soon. There are already a ton of people who want to see the RiverHouse , so they drive by and gawk skyward in awe, then pass under 131 and it looks like a different planet. I, too, think that this would make for an intersting thread of its own: What to do with the Bridge Street corridor? IMO, there needs to be a reason to not turn left at Front Street and head back downtown - a nice neighborhood grocer, perhaps? RiverHousers are going to need to buy their unmentionables somewhere, eh? OR...Tear down the porn shop and bring in a 4-5 story mixed use building with top-level apartments and ground floor retail anchored by a music shop, brewery, and small-stage performance/coffee house? Ahhhhh, one can only dream....

I would agree, tearing down the porn theater and dadd's magic bus shop, and putting up a mixed use building on that corner would go a long way with tying together Bridgewater with Bridge Street.
