AETNA article about the move

Recommended Posts

There was an article I read today about AETNA moving its middletown workers downtown. it is still about a year before renovations are complete, and the new garage is built.

Also several hundred workers are now telecommuting. and by the time they move something like 1200 will be telecommuting.

the article ends with talk about the future of the middletown site.

The building is not owned by AETNA, but the land(200 Acres) is. the company may buy the building and redevelop the land.

200 acres is a lot of land!

at the same time I would love to see the state use this building as a means to lure a major company to CT.

this is a Major building and a huge amount of space that will come available in a year or two.

Aetna could develop some of the land around this building as well.

looking at it from virtual earth it is a very nice property with great access to I-91

There is a similarly large empty building that is brand new a few miles south of the Aetna Building that is sittin waiting for a large tenant as well. The Mortgage Lenders Network Headquarters off Route 68 & I-91 has 300,000 square feet and is looking for tenants since MLN went out of business. The building was under construction when MLN went under and the developer is now marketing it for tenants. It is a high-tech building with the latest in technology and floor plan layout. The owner is a pretty big developer that has a lot of connections so I would think if there is a big company out there looking for a building in Connecticut they would find them first.

Another possible tenant might be Antheum Blue Cross in North Haven. They sold their campus to Quinnipiac University for their Graduate School programs and will probably need to vacate that building in a few years. Jay
