City of Grand Rapids reverses population trend

5 posts in this topic

2007 was the first year since the 2000 census where City population grew.

That's pretty significant, even if the actual growth was anemic (.07% last year).

The area as a whole continues to grow at a healthy clip (.62% last year in Kent County, nearly 5% since 2000).

Nifty searchable database:

Given the awful state of Michigan's economy and our ineffective, divisive and unimaginative "leaders" (cough) in Lansing this is triumphant news indeed.

Three cheers to triumph over adversity! :alc:

I would like to see the numbers, but the WZZM search database thingamajig is broken. It would be nice if they told the story: "Michigan cities bleeding residents, exceptions." Bucking the trend seems pretty news worthy even if it's just .07%.
