In Remembrance of Greenville's past

I ran across this article for another project that I am working on, that might be of some interest here. It is an accounting of what the telephone system was like in Greenville in pre-divestiture days when telephone service was supplied by Southern Bell (I believe) which was then part of MaBell. The lady who wrote the article was a DA and Toll operator for Greenville and the surrounding area.

This was back in the days when each city would have it's own telephone operators and they often knew much of the local area they served. My guess is this from some around 1970 given the types of service she describes. The cordboard she describes disappeared in most of SC in the early to mid 70s.
