chalk up another ugly wins for the Cats. This time against the hapless Lions. But I'll take it. It's true about our Panthers, they have this remarkable ability to play to the level of their opponents. They were almost sleepwalking on offense for the first two possesions. Passing game needs more work and they need to stop starting so slowly. It's time to step up the intensity since the last 6 will be a brutal stretch.

I wouldn't be so scared about our performance today. Sure we had a horrible first quarter on all sides of the ball. But after that, scoring 31 points in 3 quarters is not something to complain about. Looking around the league today (from the 1pm and 4pm games so far,) only four other teams had higher scores today than the Panthers. Yes it was a sloppy game against the worst team in the league, and considering our performance last week, one has to wonder what the heck happened on the bye week.

Here's hoping the D and O can be in sync next week in Atlanta during all four quarters or this could end up being a much rougher six games coming up.

One positive, our kick-off and punt return specialist (his name has slipped my mind) has finally seemed to have gotten into a rythem. With the Panther's style of offense, the field game is really important, and they seem to be getting better (on punt returns as well).

I have to wonder if we are holding some of our tricks in the bag these last two games. If not we won't be able to play like that against better teams. Jakes passes overall seem off and rarely on target. If Stewart and Williams weren't doing a great job running, and the line a great job opening holes, we'd be out of these games. There didn't seem to be much of any energy or emotion from either the offense or defence early on. Going through the motions definitely comes to mind. Of course a win is a win, but we'll need to step up the game a lot in this next series.

Weird observation today. I was walking past the TD Bank on the corner of 42nd and Madison (Maybe 5th?) and I noticed a Ad inside that featured Jake Delhomme and a Patriots player. The ad was talking about a possible chance for a free trip to the superbowl if you did something or another. I thought it was interesting that Jake Delhomme was featured in the ad.

Well, even if we lose this game, we now have Earnest Grahm's season ending injury on the Bucs to help us win that matchup next week. Then, assuming Arizona loses to New York today, the Panthers will be able to stay in the #2 spot even with a loss to the Giants right before Christmas.

This is all assuming Jake wakes up in Atlanta.

OK - so they started out crappy then got a sudden burst of energy and Delhomme and Smith seemed to finally click. Saw good and bad yesterday. One question though, when are they going to practise some tackle drills? Missed tackles on special teams and defense in general killed the potential to win. Going in for the big hit while not wrapping up or at least trying to grab the runner is a plan for failure. The big hits look good, but the big misses look worse.

So I'm glad to see that the offense can earn touchdowns. I mean, there were a few huge plays here and there, but most of their drives were pounded little by little. For Williams to get four 1yd TD's and Jake getting a 1yd TD as well, they are showing some improvement.

I'm beginning to now feel more confidence in the offense, and just the opposite for the defense. This is the second straight game that they've given up a lot of yards. Something needs to change, and fast. At least they were able to defend when it really mattered.

Can't wait til next week! I hope it warms up a little. I was holding out for TB to lose to New Orleans, which almost happened 23-20, but I guess these last division matchups could favor Carolina in their outcomes assuming home field advantage outcome: Atl at NO, TB at Car, & TB at Atl.

While I'd like to remain optimistic, our fate at Giants Stadium is nearly predetermined given our performance these last four games.

The game yesterday, while heart pounding, was a great game to watch. Obviously i'd prefer not squeak one by, but we had relatives in town that don't watch them Panthers (they are from ATL so they watch the Falcons) and they all said it was one of the best games they've seen in a long time.

For me I was glad to see us come out of the gates firing. We are always so predictable that doing something out of the norm is fun to watch and works againsts defenses who are ready for our normal plan. While there was plenty that could have been better, a W is still a W.

I think the only thing that really kept us in the game yesterday is the fact that the Packers have the 27th ranked rush defense in the league. Had it not been for some of the large runs (i.e. Jonathon Stewart's 40 yard dash and subsequent fumble) we would never have been in the position to have Jake make a late game drive for the win. Sure, the Panthers came up with a couple big pass plays when they needed to, which is great against the 5th ranked pass defense in the league, but I honestly don't think those two passes to Steve Smith would have mattered if the Panthers were against a much better rush defense.

I'm just not sold yet that the Panthers have what it takes to make it past their first game in the playoffs. We've only beaten one team that has a defense ranked in the top 15 in the league. The next four weeks will be a great determinant in finding out how good the Panthers really are - TB at home, Denver at home, then NYG and NO on the road.

And regarding Plaxico...they knew he wasn't going to start yesterday way before the gun incident due to a hamstring injury (coincidentally the one he shot), and yet they still pummeled the Redskins, and that's the second game this season they have won without him. I don't think it is going to affect the Giants play very much.

EDIT: I also want to make a quick note about the way the playoffs are shaping up - 10-6 or possibly even 11-5 and the Panthers could miss the playoffs with teams like the Falcons, the re-surging Cowboys, and the Redskins all within two games.

I'm going with a friend, and my parents are going even though it is their anniversary. Their seats are on the other side of the field though, should be fun to try and pick them out.

This will also be my first MNF game as well dbull. And this is a big one too!

You guys are in for a treat! This will be my 3rd Monday night game and for some reason they always feel way more intense in terms of the crowd than a Sunday afternoon game. Plus, they usually have some fireworks and the nighttime skyline as a backdrop is always awesome! Keep an eye out for me guys, I will be in section 540 row 1 which is the first row in the upper bowl around the 45 yard line - it shouldn't be too hard to spot me!
