The 12 story MacLellan Building at 721 Broad St. was originally built in 1924 as Provident Insurance's headquarters.

Performance Hospitality Group will flag it will an Indigo, part of the InterContinental Hotels Group.

Renovations will begin in August and it will open on the buildings 85th anniversary in Sep 2009, with approximately 120 rooms.

A second building at 730 Chestnut St will be gutted and converted to a parking garage for the hotel with first floor commercial space.

Mayor Littlefield also stated during the announcement of this project that this is just one of several projects that developers are looking at. I would venture a guess that the VW announcement may help them move forward.

There is no doubt in my mind that this will make for an awesome boutique hotel. The McClellan building is one of the most beautiful buildings in Chattanooga, in my opinion. The McClellan Building is the one on the right.
