CNN New Raleigh-Durham Operation

It's being reported that CNN will open an office/station in the Raleigh-Durham area. In light of the high cost of traveling, CNN will open an office in 10 additional areas, including the Raleigh-Durham area. It will initially be staffed by 1 staff member, eventually moving up to 3 or 4.

The other locations are Columbus, Ohio; Denver; Houston; Las Vegas; Minneapolis; Orlando; Philadelphia; Phoenix; and Seattle.

Perhaps it will be located in downtown Raleigh, downtown Durham, or RTP?

A longer article I read said that the reporter would be based either with another TV station (likely WRAL) or a small office. WRAL is already a "CNN affiliate," so this my best guess as to what will happen.

I never heard about the WRAL affilation. IIRC WRAL is a CBS affiliate. I had always thought CNN was an affiliate with News 14, since they are both Time Warner companies. News 14 in Raleigh is out near Atlantic Avenue near Six Forks. That seems logical to me. Plus, we are only talking about a few new people.

WRAL is indeed a CBS affiliate, but they have provided news collecting services for CNN. This article on CNN.com calls them "CNN affiliate WRAL-TV" - Female soldier missing, home burned
