Some tricks don't work. You can turn of Javascript, but then the videos and pictures won't work because they require javascript to play.

How does this second phase allow Orlando's performing arts centre to match that of other cities? Is it bigger? Like an expansion? or was this always the plan? Do other cities have more than one performing arts venues?

It was always planned, but they had trouble getting enough donations.  You can tell because it makes the front of the center look more complete.

The Walt Disney Theater is designed for amplified sound - Broadway productions, etc. 

Steinmetz (Phase II) is a legit concert hall, designed for acoustic, unamplified sound - something Orlando has never had.  Disney Theater was basically a replacement/upgrade from the Bob Carr.  Steinmetz is bringing something completely new to the table. 

Most notable is Steinmetz's convertibility/differing interior configurations for orchestral, ballet and opera productions.  Each medium has very specific needs, but few cities have the resources for specific dedicated halls for each their symphony, opera and ballet.  Historically, convertibility of space is a trade-off with acoustics. If the finished product boasts as excellent an acoustic as they are aiming for in conjunction with this convertibility, it will be a major coup for Orlando and Steinmetz will very likely inform future concert hall design elsewhere.

This might be a dumb question, but why is it taking longer for a third of a theater to get built than it does for a 20+ story building to get built? Doesn't make sense to me.

WAY different construction. Theaters are highly specialized with architectural elements that are idiosyncratic to the building design and site iteslf as well as acoustical concerns and MEP considerations for AV and specialty equipment. Student housing and residential is usually very repetitive form, pour, move up, repeat. Decking and MEP runs that go through the whole building. Very fast, similar floors each time, and just burn through it.

Looks like the fly system where sets are lowered and lifted to and from the stage during performances.  That's so Quasimodo and the Phantom can get a special view of show.
