The Homewood Suites will be located on the vacant lot across the street from the Hampton Inn.

The announced Hilton Garden Inn will be located on the next block west of the Hampton Inn. This picture is looking south. The Pinnacle Hotel Group, which is developing the Hilton Garden Inn, not only shows the HGI to open in the Spring of 2016  on its website but also a Holiday Inn Express(120 rooms) to open downtown in the Summer of 2017.

That came out of nowhere.  They have talked extensively about  the Hilton Garden Inn but not the Holiday Inn Express.  I'm glad for the development of all of the hotels but I still would like see a full service, convention hotel with 250 or so rooms developed instead of multiple limited service hotels with 120-150 rooms. The aloft being excluded.

Finally found a rendering for the Homewood Suites to be located at River Market Avenue and 4th.

I rather like it. It looks like it will blend the mostly brick style of the nearby buildings with the more contemporary colors of nearby Acxiom.

It looks like they're expanding really quickly right now. I'm excited about the dramatic increase in hotel interest in downtown right now... That is a LOT of new hotel development in a decade when these recently announced projects are wrapped up.

As the Aloft will include meeting facilities, a restaurant and pool, could it be considered full-service?  I know that's atypical for this brand, but it would see that's the case.

Maybe?  I thought to be considered full service a hotel had to offer room service as well.  This may go away as the trend in hotels is that room service is being used less and less.  The Hilton Garden Inn downtown will have meeting facilities and a restaurant also, so will it be considered full service as well?  I take it that most Hilton Garden Inn's don't have a restaurant.

From www.ushotelappraisals.com:

The most distinguishing feature of a full-service hotel is the abundant provision of food and beverage services suitable for both guests and groups.  Full-service hotels, unlike hotels in other segments, typically play a significant role in servicing the meeting and special events needs in their market area. Therefore, on-site restaurants, lounges, and group meeting spaces with banquet facilities are the cornerstones of the full-service offering.   Furthermore, selective amenities such as spas, elaborate banquet rooms, doormen, valet parking, extended room service, concierge services, and high-end restaurants and boutiques distinguish many full-service properties.

In browsing the Aloft website, it does already list "Little Rock Downtown" among dozens of others planned or under construction.  I noted that both Charleston and Tulsa have or are getting two Aloft hotels, so certainly it's not out of the question for this market.

I'm anxious to see this hotel come together...as much as I was dismayed with the originally planned location several years ago that never happened due to public outcry (that I personally disagreed with), it's good to know this is turning out much better than the original concept and location.  This will be a much larger and more significant development.
