While I totally agree that the parking lot at 2nd and Church is screaming out for something, I'm not sure that Aloft's contemporary style is the best fit for the location. SoBro would, perhaps, be a good spot with access to convention center and arena business traffic.. By the way, any of you remember the old Goody's Warehouse that was at that location until it was destroyed by a fire? That funky little business really got the 2nd Ave. rehab spirit going, if my 80's history is correct.

The article says 201 Seventh Avenue South, which is currently a parking lot it looks like on Google maps street view. Isn't this in the footprint of the new Convention Center?
