Makes sense. This article fom Greenville talks about MGA Research opening an office in Greer to be close to several companies and it list Magna as one of the companies it wants to be close to. Does Magna currently have any operations in the area?

I hope that the Laurens County jobs are still Greenville suburbs, rather than in Laurens, SC. The 40 jobs for CU-ICAR are obviously welcomed (especially since they should be mostly white collar jobs), but it would be a shame for this to mostly be a Laurens project.

A few notes of interest in this follow-up article:

- The company eventually plans to move the headquarters to Upstate.

- The company thinks the new facility will be a draw for other companies using titanium products.

- As much as some rag on GSP....the article states nonstop destinations from GSP match their needs well and GSP was a draw.

Hopefully this project will be a great attraction to other businesses.

If their projections of the price savings are right it could bring in companies from around the world and lure other startups.

Very exciting development.

The one negative is that they said they probably wouldn't start construction until 2010. Seems a long time. I hope that doesn't mean they don't have all the funding locked in.
