PROPOSED: Brown Creative Arts Building

Very interesting design. I posted all about it (with pics) on the Greater City:Providence site (where I'm going to be doing a lot of urbanism blogging, along with many of the other posters from here).

Cool looking building, but my wife, who works at Brown, got this long doom and gloom email from the president saying how they're going to be cutting back on a lot because of the poor economy. They're on a hiring freeze until January and they're not sure what projects will move forward.

I guess they're worried that they won't be getting a lot of donations to help cover the costs of the new buildings and projects. Employees seem to be worried that they won't even get their annual raise.

Much like the ICA, I absolutely LOVE this building from one side, arguably two. I like the way it interacts with the greenway, but I don't at all like that it has its side turned to Angell Street. Good buildings should never be turned away form busy streets.
