Anderson Forum and changes for Greenville

Spartan

Recommended Posts

Just so everyone is up to date, staff made the decision to consolidate the Anderson Forum back into the main SC forum due to low activity. We will pin the key Anderson threads at the top like we did in the past. Because of this change, all topics related to the counties in the Greenville MSA and the other proximate areas will now go to the Greenville forum. This will include Powdersville and NE Anderson County, Pickens County, Laurens County, the Greer portion of Spartanburg County and of course Greenville County.

The NC Triad cities collectively do not have as much activity as the Greenville forum on its own. Greenville has been one of the most heavily visited forums on UP for several years. We've discussed an Upstate forum in the past and staff felt like Greenville would totally dominate all other discussion due to the sheer volume of activity there. The current setup allows Greenville to have its own discussions and Spartanburg doesn't get lost in the mix.

We had an Upstate forum in the past with Greenville and Spartanburg subsections but nobody ever posted in the Upstate forum except for the occasional Anderson update or in the GSP Airport thread.

I am very disappointed with this decision. Activity on ALL of the sub-forums has slowed in the past 6 months, probably because of economic issues. Deleting the Anderson sub-forum does nothing more than clutter up the rest of the South Carolina forum and makes finding topics that need to be updated a difficult task. I fail to see how this action on the administrations part does anything positive. I hope you will reconsider your actions.

Its true that all of the forums have been slower lately, but Anderson was never very active in the good days either. We removed the Myrtle Beach forum for the same reason. If activity picks up in the future then we can create a new Anderson forum. We felt like pinning two Anderson threads was a reasonable compromise for the time being (other cities only have one). If you have any suggestions on what we can do to help things along in the mean time then we're open to suggestions.
