Project looks great. You can see how the Wyche Pavillion project would've played into the whole atmosphere. 

Hopefully they find a way to make that one still happen, perhaps in a modified way.

I’m drooling over these renderings. Particularly the possible acts for the Coach Music Factory.

Total cost of project is $35 million. AMP will draw more people downtown which will in turn help the retailers, restaurants, and hotels get even more business.  More tax revenue for the city too.

This is awesome! Bravo to the Peace Center's leadership for identifying a void and filling it. This really rounds out their entire campus in the most incredible way.

I know we all can find things to nitpick about Greenville, hell I'm the number one person for that, but one thing people will always be able to say about Greenville:  it's punches well above its weight. I have to marvel at how far this city has come over the last decades, and hopefully things continue to be bright for our future. Greenville absolutely has the overall attraction to be an artist retreat, to create songs, a place to film movies, to attract young creatives and projects like this move of us another step in the right direction in that regard.

The stage at the Mockingbird being a "glass box" protruding out the wall towards the main street bridge is a really cool look in my opinion.  Really makes the space more inviting to people on the street.

^^Indeed -- that's going to be awesome. Totally not necessary, but would be cool to have the City fund new/more interesting steps from Main Street down to the Reedy adjacent to this building. Use of rock and interesting lighting would all play nicely with this renovation.

All landscaping has now been taken out. I was disappointed to see that they removed some sizable trees, including all landscaping between the steps and the Main Street bridge. I'm sure their landscape plans are significant, but hate to lose trees that are getting some height. 

Do we know if there are plans to upgrade the steps to be more like the others that provide river access?

Looks like a new phase of construction is starting. Southbound traffic on Main has been diverted into the median, and a protected sidewalk added in the typical travel lane. Exterior work is set to begin.

I get it, but I hate this. This place is part of what makes Greenville unique and fun for all. Now it will be for private use only.

I talked with the architects at one of the open houses a month ago. They said that the building would be locked up at night. But otherwise would still be open to the public.

 

It is mostly to make easier on hosting events there. So they can lock it up and make sure the stuff they have set up doesn't walk off before or after.
