The renderings for Cleveland County’s new justice center were released this week. It would consolidate the courthouse/sherrif’s office etc. It’s waiting approval and will be built in Uptown Shelby(yes Shelby calls their downtown “uptown” as well. Quite impressive.

Despite being a K.M. Mountaineer alumnus & hating Shelby as a former past time sport, and the hating the parking lot. I can overlook the parking lot (given its Shelby) and the golden lions to say, it’s quite a good looking building.

Haha. Being a Crest alumni and a true Shelbian, we hate everything east the of the Buffalo Creek ;).   
 

 

But we can agree on that parking lot. I wish the building was incorporated into  Historic Uptown Shelby a little better.

Cafe Lentz is a giveaway as the Lentz family name is quite common in Cabarrus county. Union has Helms, Baucom and Griffin. According to them they are not related to the others with the same surname. Do not ask.

Yes you are correct on both fronts.  Lentz Cafe is popular in downtown Mt Pleasant.

Outer ring city Shelby.  Since I was out that way walked around downtown.  There are some beautiful homes in and around uptown Shelby.  Their old courthouse is a music museum now.  I saw a brewery, some restaurants all within a block of the Earl Scruggs Museum aka the old courthouse square.

Saturday walk through the campus of Belmont Abbey College. So much history in our backyard.

The Abbey Basilica of Mary Help of Christians was completed in 1894 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

(Fun Fact: I helped design the basilica's new front doors on my first day of work in 2015.)
