The state's second-largest utility is joining the growing list of companies interested in developing commercial wind farms in West Michigan.

Consumers Energy took a first step this week for potential wind generation development in Mason and Tuscola counties. Construction started Tuesday on four meteorological towers in Mason County and three towers in Tuscola County that will test the wind-generating potential on more than 28,000 acres of easements in the two counties.

Still a couple of years off, but I can imagine some of these wind turbines being built in West Michigan. Acciona Wind Power's name keeps coming up lately.
