Improvements wish list

1 post in this topic

What improvement projects would you recommend for Montgomery, particularly downtown? Please feel free to sound off on any new development ideas, potential renovation or redevelopment projects, or just general improvements for the built environment in the city.

I'll start off with a 1940s modernist apartment complex on S. Court St. that's badly in need of renovation. Apparently new owners would like to get this done, and hopefully they can find the money to do so and make it a first-class effort. These units would make a nice residential anchor in an area with a number of distressed properties.

The apartments are located a few blocks south of Court Square in what was primarily a residential part of downtown that was hit hard by mid-20th century commercial creep. The units are nicely done, built right off the sidewalk with parking in the middle of the block.

Should these apartments be saved?
