Work will move in two phases.

In the first, a two-story, 70,000-square-foot wing, with space for 23 offices for faculty and staff, will be grafted onto the north face of the existing building.

Once that is done, phase two will include refurbishing the original building

I'm pretty sure Hillyer College was located in the YMCA as a night school before merging with Hartt School of Music and artford Art School to form the University of Hartford. And wile it would be great to have U of H located downtown, it is actually located across the 3 municipalities of Hartford, West Hartford and Bloomfield.

There is still so much untapped potential for the school to enliven the neighborhood that it is actually located in. I favor trying to do that given the realities of the present.
