Interesting article. With places & things like the Art Walk, the nightly live performances at the Landing, the Riverwalk Extension, Five Points, Jax Beach, The Bay Street Town Center, Adams Street, & the new library, I think the city is well on its way towards achieving this "Cool factor" thing.

The key is not to come up with cheesy marketing campaigns and fake venues. Just let the market evolve naturally and give the residents what they want and everything will be fine.

I'm not convinced about this cool city thing. I think a solid city with a good job market attracts the cool people and not the other way around.

I think what lakelander said really is the key. Don't fake the funk and allow the arts and parties to go on with as little goverment interference as possible.
