Downtown Master Plan

A draft of the downtown master plan is available for review on the Mountain Xpress web site.

It's far too dense of a document to sum up in a single post so I suggest you read it yourself.

It makes a number of suggestions which we have already heard about:

  • Dividing downtown into 5 districts with different requirements for building heights, urban form, etc.

  • Transition to an apparently more form-based zoning code for downtown

  • Providing better for mobility other than the personal automobile to downtown (bike racks & lanes, shuttle buses, etc)

  • Better management of public and private parking lots

  • A revised development process that is less arbitrary and more transparent

  • Update the downtown historic district on the national register
