Burlington Outlet Village (BMOC)

On my way to Chapel Hill last night, I stopped by the recently renovated Burlington Outlet Village to see how this once prosperous discount strip-mall is fairing during this recession. To say the least, I didn't like what I saw. From what I can remember, here are the stores that have closed:

Burlington Coat Factory (now Alamance Community College)

Croscill

Pfaltzgraph

KB Toys

Liz Clairborne

It's Fashion!

There were at least 6-10 other vacant spaces including a rather large one next to the old Croscill Clearance Store. The photos below will give you a visual representation of how this appears to the general public:

Do you believe this center is currently experiencing a difficult time and will bounce back, or will it lose more stores? What does the future hold for BMOC if and when the Tanger center opens in Mebane? What do you think should be done?

I can't see this place surviving for the long term. It's awkwardly designed, dated and has no anchor stores. The only reason I ever go is for Allen Edmonds, and they could easily relocate to Mebane.

I would like to see Burlington Square become an outlet mall and BMOC get leveled.

Im glad the place has been freshened up but this whole country look isn't doing it either. This place is past its prime. A nice Prime or Tanger Outlet shopping center in the area would be great. I think I would prefer it to be somewhere between W-S and Greensboro though. That could be a great draw to the area around the new Kernersville Hospital and the Heart of the Triad area if it ever comes into existence.
