great picture of Perez on there :)

I'm not sure Republican's are in any shape to put up a Republican candidate. And the scary part is that when (not if) Perez goes down, will we go from bad to worse. Can anyone really name someone to step up and be a leader? Segarra , Kennedy and Ritter are showing themselves as opportunists in their attemps to remove Torres as council President. His behavior and alliances with Perez are nothing new. Where were these "3 blind mice" for over a year as corruption allegations, charges of unethical behavior and more have been obvious. They chose to do nothing until it now benefits their political aspirations

Are you kidding? The Courant has stopped mentioning Perez's party affiliation. And let's not forget that even after the story of Eddie's shady arrangements with Abe Giles and Carlos Costa had started to be investigated, the Courant endorsed Perez.

ok fellas keep the partisan political bull crap out of this.

The media is both liberal and conservative depending on the parent company. They appeal to their target audiance. Any newspaper in Hartford BETTER appeal to liberal leaning people as this is a very BLUE part of a blue state. The conservatives always have FOX to counter the liberal media. and regarding the courant, print media is dead and I doubt they really affect anything with whom they endorse.

Both political parties are full of corrupt losers. look at the criminals in the Bush camp. they made the S&L scandal look like a patriotic monment, and Iran contra was a point of pride.

The dems have a ton of rock stars of corruption as well, none more obvious than the former Illinois gov. trying to sell Obamas senate seat.:o

you may not agree with the politics, but the dirty business is the only thing bi-partisan about american government.

so SHHHHH

The S&L "crisis" wasn't a crisis yet when the item got to Congress. Jim Wright held up the bill because his Texas friends were not taken care of. This dragged on for months and by the time Congress acted, it was a full blown disaster.

This was a problem that could have been solved early on. Jim Wright stopped everything to help out the Texas banks of his buddies. Eventually a 50 Billion dollar package was used to bail out banks. I know 50 billion is a drop in the bucket by today's standards, but the whole mess could have been solved earlier and much cheaper if not for Wright.

The failure of Silverado is a footnote. It is like hundred of other thrifts that took advantage of changing bank laws and got themselves into deep doo doo. It did not cause the "crisis" Jim Wright did.
