SadCity Hartford has some good pictures of the Butt Ugly demo. I don't always agree with what these guys do but they do have good pics sometimes.

I have been trolling around this board for a while and just decide to sign up. I work in downtown and make sure to keep up on the the happenings of Hartford (which recently has seemed to be alot). Hope I can contributue.

I drove past this the other day, and it looks like the steel is mostly in place on the main structure at lease.

It is going to be a pretty large building and be fairly prominent in its location. this will be a very visable building from I 84 East Bound

It is amazing how long this process is.

I am wondering however about the after effects of this massive project. I know it consolidates many services from up on the access road to the N or the city, but its also going to close the fire station right downtown. At one time the fire house was supposed to be then sold or given to Northland for their massive condo project, what will be the fate of this cool and interesting building in 1-2 years once its vacant? Northland COULD still build, but I doubt it unless things change drasticly for downtown Hartford.

also, will the police still rent space across the road from City hall?

I think all of the "office workers" in the Public safety complex and activity associated with the patrolmen will really help the area seem more "part of the city?, but the North downtown area is entirely too fragmented for the full effects to be felt.

I dunno, I suppose alot can change by summer 2012. maybe something will be happening where the butt ugly used to be? maybe pedro will lure Uconn from West hartford to move there. anythings possible I guess.
