Excellent!

I'm expecting a lot more businesses like this on the "new" government street.   After the Covid vaccine starts making the rounds of course!

New Businesses in Mid-City Baton Rouge

*VIDEO LESS than 2 mins

https://www.wafb.com/2021/01/31/new-businesses-mid-city-baton-rouge/

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Mid-city had become the epicenter of Baton Rouge’s nightlife then the pandemic hit, and Government Street became quiet.

According to local officials, downtown is poised to make a comeback.

New businesses are slowly replacing the ones that didn’t survive the pandemic.

“I’m actually very optimistic, and we just need to keep pushing and encouraging people to support local with our businesses and stuff because that helps in the best way possible,” says, Davis Rhorer, downtown development executive director.

Most restaurants on the Government Street corridor are locally owned, and Rhorer says those businesses is one of the best ways to put your money directly back into our community.

Mid City Artisans to sell products, offer classes from Square 46 store

Square 46, the Mid City mixed-use development that formerly housed White Star Market, is getting a new retail tenant that will sell the work of local makers and offer classes to aspiring artisans.

A newly formed local group called Mid City Artisans will station “a retail store and occasional small classes” in a 2,016-square-foot space within the development, according to the permit application that co-founder George Harris filed a couple of months after Bistro Byronz announced it was relocating to Square 46.

Other than Bistro Byronz and Mid City Artisans, Square 46 already houses 3Tails Wine & Cheese. The 25,000-square-foot property is also home to multifamily and office space.

A retail park with vintage trailers planned for Mid City

We used to call trailer parks with really old mobile homes "tornado magnets".

Of all things for people to feel nostalgic about, this one makes about as much sense as bringing back cassette tapes.

If they got rid of some of the white panels and replaced it with Vericon glass (similar to the top floor), it would look pretty cool.    I think they need to keep vertical lines in the design somehow though.

And the parapet walls used to hide the HVAC stuff on the roof can be updated in a similar fashion.
