HORSE COPS on Main street

5 posts in this topic

OK all kidding aside, I saw the Hartford Police mounted patrol just 1 minute ago on Main street.

To me, this is really a great step in community policing, and a bigger step in community relations.

They look nice out there and passers by were petting the horses. As the cops talked (socially) to the dude who sells sunglasses and umbrellas on Main.

They are really good for crowd control like at big festivals by the river or in the park.

Yeah I have had the joy of experiencing that at Mardi Gras and at homecoming at URI back in 1993-4 :)

no matter how rowdie the crowd, people move away from horses.
