[Chicago] Sears tower in silver? / Name changing to Willis Tower

Saw this today and thought it was (and hope it really is) a joke:

This is a proposed plan to reclad the Sears Tower in a silver color as opposed to the current black. When I lived in downtown I had a 17th floor balcony facing this tower, and though it wasn't the greatest looking building, I certainly don't want to see it in silver. I understand the energy savings that could come from such a conversion, but IMO it would become a Chicago eyesore.

Wow. They can't rename a national landmark.

Well, they "can" but everyone knows it as the Sears Tower. Is this a sign of America's status, when we can't even have an AMERICAN company own an AMERICAN icon like this?

It certainly is a sad state of affairs when an American company can't have the naming rights for an American iconic landmark.

It just does not make any sense to me to change the name. Nobody will have any idea what they are talking about and will look at you blankly if you tell them to go to the Willis Tower. The Sears Tower is the most recognizable building and name in Chicago and to dilute that is insanity. I hope they got a lot of money for it.
